A former school manager appeared at the Labasa Magistrates Court this morning on corruption related offences before Resident Magistrate, Cama Tuberi.
Thomas Hewson was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption with one count of “Obtaining a Financial Advantage” under the Crimes Act of 2009.
It is alleged that between January 2014 and 2015, the Accused engaged in acts which resulted in him acquiring $45,448.90FJD.
FICAC Prosecutor, Josanne Pene informed the Court that Prosecution was ready to serve the disclosures and the Charge Sheet.
Hewson was then asked about his legal representation as he had none and upon the Court informing him of his options, chose to engage the services of the Legal Aid Commission.
He was granted bail and was required to surrender all documents before 3pm on Friday.
Bail conditions also included residing in the provided residential address and not approaching or interfering with witnesses for this case.
The matter is adjourned to 6 August 2018 where full disclosures will be served.
