While Fiji rugby will be recognizing their best players, administrators and achievements tonight, a former player is with us no more.
Former Fiji 7s and Flying Fijians loose forward Manasa Qoro has passed away.
The Jack’s Nadi Rugby Family and the former reps are united in grief following the passing of Qoro earlier this week.
Qoro was part of the Flying Fijians that played in the first rugby world cup in 1987 in New Zealand.
The Nawaka man played four tests for Fiji including three at the 87 world world.
He will be best remembered for his field goal against Italy at that world cup and was the first ever loose forward do so in World Rugby history.
Many will not forget his try against France as well at the same world cup.
Qoro was to celebrate his 55th birthday today.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Rugby Union has confirmed a minute of silence will be observed at the FRU Awards tonight for Qoro at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
