Five men were produced at the Suva Magistrates Court this afternoon charged for their alleged involvement in two separate robbery cases.
In the case reported on the 6th of this month, a taxi driver was allegedly threatened by four men in Suva where they forced him to drive to Reservoir Road, they allegedly tied him up and put him in the boot of the car, before heading towards Sawani .
When their plan failed, they returned and abandoned the vehicle in Raiwaqa and the driver was able to free himself and report the matter to Police.
The Southern Division task-force had been pursuing the four since the report was made with the successful arrest of the three men aged 20 and one aged 26 years.
The four have been charged with aggravated robbery, theft and driving a motor vehicle without a valid license.
On May 9th, a 20 year old student was arrested and charged for allegedly robbing a 25 year old woman off her mobile phone while she was walking along the Qauia Bridge.
In another alleged burglary case a 20 year old former employee of a large retail and wholesale outlet in Laucala Beach was arrested for stealing stolen items from the premises.
Quick action by officers at the Raiwaqa Police Station found the suspect on the property with assorted goods alleged to have been stolen.
It is alleged the suspect had hidden in the complex and committed the offence after the staff had closed down for the day.
