A Workshop on Fisheries Standards will be held in Suva this week. The session targets Fiji’s offshore fishing industry stakeholders who will undergo training from experts in the field of Marine Stewardship Council fisheries standards and chain of custody requirements.
And also traceability to ensure Fiji’s albacore and yellow-fin MSC certification is within its Exclusive Economic Zone and adjacent high seas are managed and maintained according to MSC standards.
The MSC is an international and independent non-profit organization that sets a standard for sustainable fishing in both off-shore and in-shore fisheries. The 3-day session will be officiated by Permanent Secretary for Fisheries-Craig Strong tomorrow.
