Commonwealth Games gold medallist Eileen Cikamatana has shocked the country with her decision.

Cikamatana one of the decorated weightlifter in the country is quitting the sport.

Cikamatana in a letter to the Weightlifting Fiji said that she no longer want to be part of WEIGHTLIFTING FIJI thus resigning completely with effective immediately.

With regards to the IOC scholarship, on the 16th of June, she notified , in a letter to the IOC Edward Kensington, FASANOC and others, were copied, that she officially withdrew from the IOC Tokyo 2020 scholarship.

Therefore they do not need to threaten her any longer with the possible removal of that scholarship.

Cikamatana says she made her own decision to step down.

She was expected to see the Chairman of the IWF Anti-Doping Commission, Dr. Patrick Schamasch, in Noumea today, to make him aware that she is no longer competing in the sport of weightlifting and is no longer a member of Weightlifting Fiji.
