Fijian Women Police officers continue to achieve milestones following the graduation of a senior officer as a United Nations Formed Police Unit Assessment of Operational Capabilities Officer.
Assistant Superintendent of Police- Eileen Pickering who has successfully completed a demanding two week training with 34 other participants from various UN Missions to become a certified Formed Police Unit Assessment of Operational Capabilities Officer.
Pickering will now be able to conduct assessments for Formed Police Units to qualify them for any UN Peace keeping deployments.
She says the training was demanding having to sit daily exams, but it was worth the sacrifice of sleepless nights as she was able to assist in realizing the Fiji Police’s commitment to sending its first ever Formed Police Unit.
FPU are pledged by Member States and subsequently deployed as a trained and equipped, cohesive and fully self-sustained unit. FPUs consist of approximately 160 officers.
