Second Lieutenant Tomasi Manakiwai from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces will be the only candidate to train at the United States Army Ranger School this year.

Ranger School is one of the toughest training courses for which a soldier can volunteer.

After 20 years another candidate from RFMF will be attending the School.

The main purpose of the course is for the candidate to train and learn on how to lead men in combat situation.

Sergeant First Class Aaron DePorter says the course will also ensure that candidates become better leaders and are more confident to lead during combat.

Second Lieutenant Manakiwai will be going through two months of intense training at various locations in the US where he will learn tactics that will be helpful for RFMF during future operations.

The US army hopes to have one candidate from Fiji take the leadership course every year so that soldiers are trained for conflict.
