A Fijian national and two other United Nations staff members were killed on Saturday when a bomb-laden vehicle exploded outside a shopping mall in Libya’s eastern city of Benghazi.

Seniloli Tabuatausole fondly known by his colleagues as ‘Tabs’ was identified along with Jamaican national Clive Peck and Hussein Elhader of Libya.

According to the United Nations Field Staff Union, the blast took place outside Arkan Mall in the Hawari neighborhood, where people were gathering for shopping a day before the Eid al-Adha holiday begins.

The Benghazi municipal council reportedly said the attack targeted a convoy for the UN Support Mission in Libya.

Meanwhile the Guradian reports UN secretary general António Guterres has condemned the attack.
