The Fiji Civil Society Organizations launched a 2019 voluntary national review of their progress in transforming agenda of the sustainable Development Goals.
Fiji Council of Social Services,Vani Catanasiga, said that it took them four months to compile this inaugural report.
“There is a need for more enabling spaces for Civil Society Organizations at the policy level,” Catanasiga said.
She added that this is the first time that these different actors collaborated to collect and save their work in a report and she added that their challenge was the lack of consistent funding.
Korean International Cooperation Agency country director JiHi Kim says that CSO’s have been working actively but there has been no report about their activities.
Kim says that governments frequently forget about people when they are conversing with other governments and the focus is more on what policies they wish to implement.
In this report the Civil Society Organizations looked at all the 17 sustainable development goals not just the ones under review at the High Level Political Forum held at the United Nations Head Quarters earlier in July of this year.
