The search is on for the suspect who fatally shot a Fiji-born police officer, in the community of – Newman in California, early yesterday morning.
According to the Stanisalus County Sheriff’s Department, the 33-year-old Fiji-born officer – Ronil Singh, made a traffic stop, whereby he was shot, and the suspect fled.
Responding officers found Corporal Singh at the scene, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.
Exactly what led to Officer Singh being shot – is still being investigated.
Surveillance photos of the suspect authorities are looking for – have been released.
Singh is originally from Fiji, and had been with the Newman Police Department, since July 2011.
Newman Police in a statement said – he chose to be the light in the darkness, and to do so without hesitation.
Singh leaves behind a wife and young son.
