The deadline for Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association members’ Vat Monitoring System compliance has been extended to April 30, 2020.

VMS has recently been introduced into Fiji by the Fiji Revenue & Customs Service to help businesses automatically pay their VAT and had set 31 July this year for the industry to be fully operational.

FHTA CEO, Fantasha Lockington said that the announcement is welcome by FRCS.

Given the unique complexities of the financial operating environment for our tourism operators, FHTA sought clarification on compliance guidelines.

The Standard Interpretation Guidelines are currently under discussion.

Lockington said that FHTA members have already embarked on the initial registration and compliance process.

This will be followed by the installation of the VAT Monitoring System with the required software and hardware changes, pending the confirmation of the Standard Interpretation Guidelines.

Lockington added that the Association looked forward to a continuing collaboration with FRCS to ensure full compliance by its members.
