Fulton Hogan Hiways has set a benchmark for entries in tomorrows Island Chill Suva Marathon.
As a strong supporter in this year’s Marathon, FHH have also taken the lead in registering 148 staff members in the 10.55km road race.
FHH Suva South Manager, Avinesh Ram, said that this is the fourth year that he has helped manage the traffic control of the marathon and this is the largest number of FHH entries.
“My crew place cones and signs, direct traffic in detours and also see that the road is safe for participants,” he said.
The marathon is a significant event on the Suva calendar with an expected 2500 participants to take part in the race.
Every year the FHH staff monitor race route road closers and junctions.
This year 30 staff will be helping with the marshaling when the event kick starts at Albert Park this Saturday at 7am.
Carl Theobald, FHH Construction Manager for the Central Division said that the team has been in training for a month. “We see this as a great opportunity to get our staff motivated, to get some really good exercise, not to mention this is a excellent team building event.”
