The Fiji Bus Operators Association has welcomed the appointment of Samuel Simpson as the chief executive officer of the Land Transport Authority.
The associations General Secretary, Rohit Latchan, congratulated Simpson and highlighted LTA’s important role as the bus industry’s regulator.
Latchan says Simpson’s leadership background in the bus industry operations internationally is encouraging for the industry in Fiji.
He says Simpson joins the Land Transport Authority at a time when the bus industry and road transport in Fiji are undergoing massive changes, but also threats to business survival.
Latchan says while LTA plays a central role in the regulation, development and sustainably of the industry, it is vital that the LTA and the association work closely to pave the way for the future of the industry.
He adds they forward to working with the new CEO and find ways to ensure the continued modernisation and sustainability of the bus industry in the country.
Simpson had mentioned earlier that he was looking forward to meeting with bus operators to hear their views on the status of the industry.
