The Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations has reiterated that Election Day on November 14th, 2018 is a public holiday.
However, the employers have been urged by the Ministry not to prevent employees working on Election Day from voting.
The Ministry further states that employers must make the necessary arrangements to ensure that their operations are not affected.
However, whether it is early in the morning or later in the day, workers and employers must cast their votes before the closure of the polling venue.
The Ministry has also highlighted that for employers who will operate on Election Day must pay their workers their public holiday pay in accordance with section 67 of the Employment Relations Act 2007.
