1365 complaints were registered from January to July 2016 – according to the Consumer Council’s 2016 Annual Report 2016 from January to July.
Out of the 1365 complaints – 1011 were resolved.
Chief executive officer Premila Kumar – told the Standing Committee on Social Affairs that the response time for simple complaints are done on the same day through email.
However, complex complaints take up to 4 weeks.
The Annual Report also showed that electronic goods was the first in the list – of the top 10 complaints received.
Kumar said the Council has been lobbying for standards of imported electronic goods to be improved.
The Council and the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has been organising awareness programmes with traders on white goods.
