The e-passport will not roll out on Monday as there have been a delay due to logistic issues.

This was revealed by the Director for the Department of Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa in a press conference this afternoon.

Vuniwaqa says the first lot of five thousand books will be leaving Germany tomorrow with the machines that will be use for the added features.

He added once the books arrive, the immigration officers will go through two weeks of familiarisation training.

The new e-passport system is expected to be launched next month.

The new system will help strengthen border security and streamline customs and immigration, decreasing passenger processing time and creating an easier , more efficient travel experience.
