There has been a decrease in the overall number of vehicles issued with Vehicle Defect Orders by the Land Transport Authority.
A total of 1,492 Vehicle Defect Orders were issued this year – compared to 2,024 Defect Orders issued for the same period last year.
According to LTA – the 26 percent decrease shows that vehicle owners are ensuring that their vehicles are well maintained and thus, safe for driving or travelling in.
A vehicle defect includes “any defect in performance, construction, a component, or material.”
Land Transport Authority, Board Chairperson, Vijay Maharaj said vehicle owners must always be aware of any defects in their vehicles – and being unaware is not an acceptable reason.
Maharaj said the vehicle owner/drivers is responsibile for carrying out regular safety checks.
