Fiji Police and Navy Officers, Town Council officials and representatives from the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service stationed in Fiji’s central division will undertake training this week on the enforcement of the kawakawa and donu seasonal ban.
This is the first in a series of enforcement trainings to be conducted across Fiji over the next three weeks.
An initiative of the Ministry of Fisheries and conducted by cChange, a regional communications NGO, the one-day sessions aim to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to carry out effective outreach and as necessary, support the effective enforcement of the ban.
cChange will provide training and tools to conduct effective outreach to key stakeholders, with the goal of increasing compliance with the ban.
The Ministry of Fisheries, supported by the Pacific Community (SPC) will provide training for participants in supporting effective enforcement of the ban.
