According to the Pacific Cyber Security Operational Network, the most common form of Cyber Attacks in the Pacific is Phishing- this is the fraudulent practice of sending fake emails that claim to be from Reputable Companies in order to induce individuals to Reveal Personal information.

This was revealed during the First ever Cyber Security Conference held at the Holiday Inn, Suva yesterday.

Key stakeholders from various organizations came together to address the Global Cyber Security threats and vulnerabilities in the Pacific Region at the first ever Cyber Security Conference held this week in Suva.

Chief Executive Officer-Alex Teh of Chillisoft-a leading Cyber Security Specialist  based in New Zealand says Credential theft also tops the list of Cyber Threats in the Pacific Region. This threat is when Cyber Attackers break weak passwords and gain access to networks by taking confidential information and gaining access to Networks or Organizations.

Teh says however they have technology today that provides really good protection against this  as their type of cyber security is based around Detection, analytical research, and investigation.

About 50 Participants from the various organization were part of the 2 Day event that ended yesterday.  The event was Organized by VT Solution
