The State counsel has asked for 7 more days to file information on John Nikolic and wife Yvette who were arrested after the Denarau Drug bust.
This has been granted by the High Court Judge.
The Nikolics Lawyer Wasu Pillay made an application for him to meet his clients for 1 and a half hours as the standard 30min is not enough considering the disclosure materials they have to go through together.
The Lautoka High Court judge granted the 90 minute period.
In the 90minute period they also met with their relatives.
The lawyer also asked the judge if the escorting police officers could remain outside their meeting room as they would discuss confidential issues.
Again this was granted by the high court judge.
Their legal counsel told the high court that his clients were prohibited from reading their disclosures, to which he argued that the state has remanded them but is not giving them the right to read their disclosures and defend themselves.
Their case has been adjourned to the 7th of August for mention.
Former top jockey Danny Nikolic John Nikolic’s brother came from Australia to attend the court case.
