Ambassador-designate Lalabalavu took her oath of allegiance and oath of due execution of office before the Head of State which was followed by the signing of oaths.
Prior to her diplomatic posting, the career civil servant was a Deputy Secretary for the Policy Division at the Office of the Prime Minister.
Mrs Lalabalavu began her career in the service in 1982 in the then Ministry of Education Secondary & Development Section and worked up the ranks in many different Government Ministries.
In 2009, she was appointed as Director Monitoring and Evaluation under the Office of the Prime Minister and thereafter promoted to the Deputy Secretary post.
In the course of her career, Mrs Lalabalavu continued her education and attained higher education qualifications that culminated with a Masters in Governance from the University of the South Pacific.
She has represented Fiji at numerous international seminars and attended trainings overseas.
Notably, Mrs Lalabalavu was the chief coordinator of the 23rd Conference of Parties (COP23) Presidency.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs permanent secretary Iowane Naivalarua, Mrs Lalabalavu’s family members and her former colleagues were also present at the commissioning ceremony.
