Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death on Calvary.
It is observed during ‘Holy Week’ as part of the Paschal Triduum on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday, and may coincide with the Jewish observance of Passover.
In his Easter Message, the Head of one of the largest Denominations in the country, took time to share his Easter message.
Head of the Catholic Church – Archbishop Peter Loy Chong says there is no Peace when there is war and violence, and when people cannot exercise their freedom.
Chong also highlighted on the various issues impacting Fiji, and he hopes this Easter will bring us more commitment, to Peace for our families and communities around the country.
The Sacred Heart Cathedral was packed to capacity this afternoon for the Veneration of the Cross service where worshipers kneel or bow before the cross and then kiss it as a gesture of respect.
Christians all over the country will then attend a Resurrection Sunday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion.
