Canada will be using this week’s Pan Pacific Championship as a final trial for their swimmers before the Pre-Olympic Selections.

Their team’s current squad was selected back in April and have gone through numerous trials before arriving to our shores last week.

Canada National Development Coach- Ken Mckinnon says they will be fielding 30 swimmers for the four days competition.

“We had a trial in April to select the swimmers to compete at the Junior Pan Pac. We arrived in last Friday and have been testing the pools here for quite a few days now.”

He adds rounding up this batch was challenging and they had to organise a few more trials to determine the best.

Mckinnon adds this championship will be the final trial to select the squad for Pre-Olympic preparations

Meanwhile, a total 250 swimmers from 11 countries will compete at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships that will start this Thursday at the Damodar Aquatic Centre in Suva.
