It is with great pleasure we announce the 2019 Fiji’s Coral Coast Sevens Tournament Ambassador is Mr Bryan Habana.

Bryan Habana was an integral member of the South Africa team that won the 2007 Rugby World Cup, and was one of the stars of the tournament, his eight tries equalling the single-tournament record set by Jonah Lomu in 1999.

He was subsequently named the 2007 IRB Player of the Year. During the 2015 Rugby World Cup he equalled Lomu’s career record of 15 tries in World Cups, and also moved into joint second place among all time test try scorers, with a tally of 64. Since that time he has moved up to absolute second place with a total of 67 tries.

On 24 April 2018, Habana announced he will retire from all forms of rugby at the end of his French Top 14 club Toulon’s season

The Coral Coast Sevens has a long history of attracting legends of the game to the premier Sevens tournament in the South Pacific and are extremely happy to welcome Bryan Habana to join the likes of Waisale Serevi, David Campese, Jonah Lomu, Ben Gollings, Viliame Satala, Karl TeNana, Lote Tuqiri, George Gregan, the Fiji Olympic 7s team and DJ Forbes who have all been inducted into the RugbyTown Walk of Fame.

Sigatoka River Safari are the Official Tournament Ambassador sponsor and Managing Director Mr Jay Whyte was very happy and effusive in his appreciation of Bryan and his family accepting the invitation to join the people of Fiji in helping make the 9th annual Fiji’s Coral Coast Sevens another epic event. “We cannot wait to host Bryan and his young family here in Fiji and in particular take him into the “Heart & Soul of Fiji” aboard our Safari jet boats to visit 1 of the 17 villages we visit throughout the year”.

When asked about his thoughts on the visit to Fiji and his induction into the RugbyTown Walk of Fame, Bryan stated that he was “massively humbled and appreciative of this induction into the Walk of Fame. My family and I cannot wait to be in Fiji to not only meet the people, but to also experience the world famous Fijian culture. Having spoken with Jay he has booked me and my family in for a Sigatoka River Safari experience so I can’t wait to see what a Fijian Safari is all about!!”

This will be Bryan’s first time visit and having played alongside and against many Fijians, he was extremely enthusiastic about coming down to the South Pacific and cannot wait to be in Fiji for a week long stay and will be attending the official launch function and plaque unveiling in Sigatoka Town on Wednesday 16th Jan 2019.
