128 breast cancer surgeries have been conducted at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital so far this year.
This was revealed by General Surgeon – Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete, during the Pinktober Symposium last week.
Waqainabete said at least 2 breast cancer surgeries, are conducted at the CWM Hospital every week.
Waqainabete stressed the importance of patients presenting themselves ‘early’ at hospitals – so they can receive treatment in a timely manner.
The youngest breast cancer victim is a 17-year-old.
The Fiji National University has partnered with the Ministry of Health and the Fiji Cancer Society – in taking the lead role in creating greater cancer awareness, at the national level with the launch of the Pinktober Campaign.
