Lautoka, fresh from their OFC Champions League finals will be a team to be beaten in this year’s Vodafone Fiji FACT.
With the inclusion of Solomon Islands star Benjamin Totori the Blues look favorite on paper to win this year’s title after a drought of 15 years.
Lautoka last won the Vodafone Fiji FACT in 2009. They were crowned the champions of 2017 Courts IDC and also won the Vodafone Premier League last year.
After an impressive performance in the OFC Champions League the Kamal Swamy coached side are expected to continue their winning streak at the local scene after their loss in the final against Team Wellington.
They have everything in their squad which is needed to win the title with the likes of goalkeeper Benaminio Mataeiniqaqa, defenders Kavaia Rawaqa, Kolinio Sivoki, Dave Radrigai, Praneel Naidu, Zibraaz Saheb and Jone Vesikula while in attack are Osea Vakatalesau, Edward Justin, Mohammed Shazil Ali, Leisari Qalica with veteran Peni Finau.
Lautoka have shown the promise of a new era under the presidency of Abdul Kadar at the OFC Champions League where they qualified for their first ever finals.
The Blues have an excellent chance of making it to the top four if they continue with their performance from the OFC Champions League finals. However Kadar is yet to lift the Fiji FACT title.
The Kamal Swamy coached side is unbeaten in the Vodafone Premier League after appearing in three matches this year.
A loyal Lautoka player who started his career with the Blues in 2008 and in 10 years of his football career with the Sugar City Boys he has not touched the Vodafone Fiji FACT trophy.
Sahib is a player who plays with his heart out for Blues and always reads the games well.
The opponent strikers always find it hard to go past him.
He is a free-kick specialist and if luck is with him, he will surely score goals for the Lautoka.
