Minister for Transport, Parveen Kumar Bala this morning officiated at the 13th Annual General Meeting of the Fiji Van and Carrier Operators’ Association in Nakasi.
The theme of the AGM was “Modernization of PSV Industry in Fiji” with emphasis on public safety at the forefront.
Kumar highlighted that Government was committed to providing the best services and infrastructure to the transport industry.
Some of the issues highlighted at the AGM were permit freezes, PSV permits and hold up on applications, and road conditions to name a few.
The Minister said the Government would come down hard on those operating illegally and not following proper processes and protocols.
Also in attendance were officials from the Commissioner Centrals Office, Fiji Police, Land Transport Authority and the Nausori Town Council.
