The bilateral engagements between Fiji and Australia will reach to greater heights with the official visit to Fiji by the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women, Senator Marise Payne, to take place from 3rd to 5th of June.
This is the first visit by Minister Payne after being reappointed as the Minister for Foreign Affairs, after the recent elections in Australia.
During the visit, Minister Payne will meet with the Hon. Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama. She will also meet with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security, Inia Seruiratu and other senior Ministers.
It recognizes the renewed commitment of the two nations to strengthen the ‘Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership,’ which was declared during the historic visit by the Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in January this year. The two governments are currently working on finalizing the Vuvale Partnership Agreement.
Australia is one of Fiji’s largest trade and investment partners and the two nations work together closely as fellow members of multilateral and regional forums, such as the United Nations, World Trade Organization, Commonwealth and Pacific Islands Forum.
