Members of the public, legal practitioners, students, academics and researchers can, for the first time, access Fiji’s Family Law Judgements.
This is after the Acting Chief Justice Kamal Kumar launched the anonymised Family Law Judgements on the Fiji Judiciary website today.
The launch of the Anonymized Family Law Judgements on the Judiciary Website would mean that magistrates and judges have a special guideline to follow to ensure there is consistency in judgements passed.
Justice Kumar says to ensure public certainty , Legal practitioners will also provide advice and opinions to clients on family matters from the judgements published.
Publishing the family law judgements took a long time due to policy reasons and the need to keep people personal life and circumstances private has to be considered.
The Family Law Judgements is supported by UNICEF and Australia’s Law and Development Partners.
