Minister Akbar highlighted that Fijians needed to rise up from the challenges of NCDS such as diabetes.
She also highlighted that the conference provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss ways to combat NCDS in our country. .
“This year alone a total of 348 diabetes related amputations were done at our three major divisional hospitals in Fiji. Of the total amputations done this year alone, 216 were male and 132 females suffered amputations.”
The day long symposium was attended by medical and reproductive health experts from the Pacific region.
