The Acting President of the Republic of Fiji, Chief Justice officially launched the Laws of Fiji Website at the Grand Pacific Hotel today.
During the launch, Hon. Chief Justice said now the website has all the consolidated laws of Fiji online.
“With the launch of the laws of Fiji website, the consolidated laws are now available online. This will
provide access to the laws of the land for ordinary Fijians,” Hon. Chief Justice said.
The Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while delivering his keynote address, said having laws online is really beneficial for everyone and also any latest legislation passed in the Parliament will be available online immediately.
“Today we are launching a new website that puts the consolidated laws of Fiji online and free for the first time ever. Providing an easy to use, one-stop online resource that allows anyone, anywhere to read and access the laws of our country” the AG said.
“Today, we’re building on that achievement, as we’ve digitized every page of every volume of the
consolidated laws of Fiji, which can now be accessed on this new website, and which will be consolidated quarterly and every new legislation in between will be available online immediately.”
The newly launched website has been developed by Lexis-Nexis which had previously assisted with the publication of the Revised Edition of the Laws of Fiji in 2016.
The Executive Director Emerging Markets and Corporate, LexisNexis Ms. Myfanwy Wallwork says that working with the Fiji government was an excellent opportunity for Lexis-Nexis.
