Fijians around the country will now be able to watch live television on their mobile devices after the launching of the Walesi Mobile application.
The application, a first of its kind in the country was launched today by the Attorney-General and Minister for Communications, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
The A-G acknowledged Walesi for providing Fijians with free-to-air television and stated that the new mobile application would ensure Fijians are be able to watch live television.
He also highlighted that the Fijian Government would ensure that all Fijians have 100 per cent coverage and that no Fijians is left behind.
Apart from the Walesi mobile launch, the A-G also officiated at the signing of the agreement for the Savusavu-Suva cable system.
Sayed-Khaiyum stated that the setting up of the cable would ensure significant boost to the connectivity speeds between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
One of the core objectives of this project is to provide secure and quality access to all licensed operators on an equitable basis, in terms of price and interconnection facilities, to foster retail competition in ICT and hence making Internet more affordable to all Fijians.
