20 Overseas Scholarships has been offered to students for the 2019 Academic year.
This was confirmed by Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Board Chairman-Dixon Seeto.
Seeto says overseas scholarship is provided for courses not available in Fiji.
More than a thousand Applications was received for the National Toppers Scheme for the 2019 intake, but only 970 could be Awarded for the Scheme.
“We work purely on marks and on merit and many of this are given to students who have applied wanting a certain area of study, if they miss out on their preferred area and they are very good student we look at what their second choice is and this year we have 20 scholarships that is provided for scholarships overseas for courses not available in Fiji”
Seeto says they will still consider students who have not met the proper requirements in submitting Documents for the TELS Program.
“The remaining ones that didn’t qualify or there’s additional processing needed in terms they didn’t give us enough information or they needed an offer letter from the Tertiary institutions things like that, there’s always that small percentage that needs an extra handling and Bobby Maharaj and his team are doing that quite well”
A Budget of $300 million dollars was provided by the Government for TSLB. As of now almost 7,000 Applicants have been Awarded for the Tertiary Education Loan Scheme Program for 2019.
