“We refused to accept that enough is being done about the urgent need to cap global warming”
These are the words of Fijian Prime Minister and COP23 President Voreqe Bainimarama at the 2018 National Climate Day Launch held at Sukuna Park, Suva.
PM said that Fiji has done it for the world – a small nation of big hearts and big imaginations stepping forward to lead the international community in its response to the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced.
He also highlighted that scientists said that world still has time to meet the 1.5 degree warming target but only just.
“We have to act now. There is no time to waste. Because if we don’t, the planet will warm by at least three degrees by century’s end, which would be a catastrophe for the world!” emphasized the COP23 President.
