Nauru Weightlifting Federation has extended a formal invite to Timothy Vakuruivalu to participate in the Nauru Independence Day 50th Anniversary Weightlifting Tournament to be held on Saturday, 26 January, 2019 in Nauru.
Timothy is the eldest son of Weightlifting Fiji’s (WF) Vice President, Della Shaw-Elder and is competing for a spot in the Weightlifting team to the Junior World Championships being held in Suva from 1-8 June, 2019 and the Team to the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.
This is an all expenses paid trip for Timothy by Nauru Weightlifting Federation. Timothy said he was happy to hear the news of his invite and is looking forward to a good competition and also catching up with his weightlifting friends from the Oceania Weightlifting Institute.
The Nauru Government is in full support of this event and with the assistance of the Oceania Weightlifting Federation, Nauru Weightlifting Federation is pleased to be hosting some of the best athletes from Oceania and the Commonwealth.
This tournament along with other events will take place in the final week of January to conclude the 50th Anniversary of Nauru’s Independence celebrations.
Meanwhile, the next National trials for the 2019 Pacific Games will be on 23 February 2019.
