Expect new faces in this year’s Yasawa Rugby Union team to the Skipper Cup Challenge.

Yasawa Rugby team secretary, Kinijoji Rakata says preparations are slowly picking, as they look forward to their opening match against Jetsetters- Nadi.

Although some players have continued their own individual training during the COVID-19 restrictions period; only a handful of players followed this religiously as majority returned to the islands.

The team has had one fitness test so far and want to improve body conditioning and match fitness.

Through the Fiji Rugby Union pathway system feeder school Ba Provincial Freebird Institute, has a few talents from the champion under-19 Deans competition last year.

The team also have some familiar 7s faces like Kalione Nasoko, Rusiate Matai, Napolioni Ratu and Waisea Nacuqu- whose mum is from Nacula in Yasawa.

The Yasawa Rugby Union team will take on Nadi on Saturday, July 25, at the Churchill Park in Lautoka
