Members of Civil Society Organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations attended the National Security Strategy (NSS) consultation workshop held at Suvavou House today.
The workshop will focus on the review of the National Security Strategy 2016 and beyond document that will also outline Government holistic and its approach to National Security.
Speaking at the event, Permanent Secretary for Defence and National Security, Osea Cawaru reminded the participants that they are an integral part of the current review processes.
“As for today’s process that we engage in constructive discussions on how to ensure that the revised National Security Strategy (NSS) 2019-2023 is holistic and equally important in practical and achievable.”
“The draft National Security Strategy 2016 and Beyond offered a broad concept of National Security defining National Security to mean both traditional and non-traditional security and the renewal of relationships both internally and externally.”
Cawaru adds that its two years now since the draft of 2016 NSS was formulated and now the strategy is up for review.
