The Fiji Multi-Sectoral Workshop on Strengthening Tobacco Control Enforcement is a unified approach to curb illicit drug trade.
The Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete officiated at the opening of the workshop in Novotel Hotel, Nadi today.
The workshop aims to enable the ministry of health and medical services to promote cross-sectoral information sharing and enforcement against illicit tobacco trade.
The workshop would allow for a strategy to strengthen tobacco control by addressing illicit trade of tobacco products at border control and within, increase visibility around the areas of enforcement and prosecutions and promote awareness on the effects of tobacco use, particularly as a barrier to national and global development.
The workshop will end this coming Thursday.
