New Zealand’s top squash players have scored first up wins at the British Open in Hull.

After a first round bye, Joelle King and Paul Coll both scored wins to progress, while Campbell Grayson had a tough loss in his match.

Women’s fifth seed King beat Malaysia’s Low Wee Wern in straight games, while men’s fourth seed Coll took almost an hour and a half to beat Welshman Joel Makin 3-1.

Grayson was beaten 3-1 by defending champion and sixth seed Miguel Rodriguez of Colombia.

King will next meet 10th seed Alison waters of England, while Coll plays Egyptian Fares Dessouky.
