The new Kaiviti Silktails coach’s appointment is something the Fiji National Rugby League has been following closely since the last World Cup.
Waisale Naiqama or Wes Naiqama, has been part of the Fiji Bati coaching team since 2017.
FNRL’s Chief executive officer Don Natabe says Wes is the right fit to the puzzle.
The environment of the Rugby League Sport for the Kaiviti Silktails was uncertain around this time, but the Fiji National Rugby League is certain they have made the right decision to taking the rugby league team forward.
Wes brings with him an extensive amount of football knowledge as a former player himself, playing over 150 games in the National Rugby League and Super League.
The FNRL says his involvement and interest in the sport is what has earned him the new role.
The Kaiviti Silktails not only has a strong focus on the development of local players, but also the development of local coaches.
Naiqama wants to consolidate a wide range of his skills, and be a positive role model for young people.
His new appointment will also allow more local players gain greater access to Fiji Bati Coach Brandon Costin’s knowledge and guidance throughout the 2020 Vodafone Cup season.
