The Fiji Navy family held it’s thanksgiving church service yesterday morning as it began the week long commemoration of it’s 45th Anniversary.
It was a happy yet solemn occasion as the RFN is in mourning following the passing of one of it’s more renowned service member, Petty Officer Alefoso Yalayalatabua.
The late Petty Officer Yalayalatabua was well known in rugby circles representing the Navy rugby club, RFMF Sukuna Bowl team, Suva Rugby and the Flying Fijians.
To the RFN, he will be remembered as a diligent, dedicated and a quite achiever.
At his time of passing the senior sailor was holding the post of Chief Bosuns Mate onboard Fiji’s newest patrol boat, the RFNS Savenaca.
The RFMF padre Major Ilaitia Tuwere officiated the church service.
The Honourable Prime Minister Rear Admiral (Retd) Voreqe Bainimarama, the Commander RFMF, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto and senior officers of the RFMF were also in attendance.
