Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete introduced Remodeling program in Tukuraki Village, Ba
The objective of the program is to inform the community on the new approach that the Ministry is embarking on. This is decentralizing of the health services throughout Fiji and taking the service to the communities.
Sub-Divisional Medical Officer Dr Vineet Chand said that the medical teams will commence the 14 week outreach programs
“We have started our 14 weeks program which includes 3 days a week i.e. Monday, Wednesday and Friday for Multi-disciplinary Outreaches. The Multi-disciplinary Outreaches team includes a doctor, nurses, dentist, dietician, health inspectors and physiotherapist so most services are available during each visit”, he added.
The medical team dedicates one week for each zone while other Governmet departments such as DO’s Office, Judicial, Police, Social Welfare, Agriculture, Provincial Office, iTLTB, Red Cross, Pharmacy, RC Manubhai provide services to the hard to reach areas as per our Hon. Minister’s Statement of “No Fijian is Left Behind”.
The 14-week program will target the zones of Nalawa, Rarawai, Namau, Veisaru, Karavi, Varoko, Vatulaulau, Nailaga, Sorokoba, Nukuloa, Wailailai, Navatu, Moto and Koronubu.
The Program Launch had shown immense response from the public as they will be the direct beneficiaries taking into consideration the remoteness of the village.
