In Fiji we are doing our utmost to ensure that increased quality specialist services are available in the country, says the Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.

Minister Waqainabete while officiating at the Pacific islands meeting on sub-regional collaboration for specialized healthcare services, said the Fijian Government’s recent venture into partnership with Australia based Aspen Medical Pty Limited will see overseas quality medical services brought right to the doorsteps of Fijian citizens at affordable costs.

“The challenges in the Pacific are real as the growing burden of diseases in the region is stretching the limits of regions capacity, causing countries to dig deep with the scarcity of what they have.

“It is therefore vitally important, as leaders, to ensure that our health resources are being employed in the most efficient and effective ways,” Minister Waqainabete said.

The regional meeting has brought together representatives of health sectors from around the region at this two-day event taking place from the 26-27 February ,2019.
