Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa today launched the first hydro-panel project in Fiji at Yavusania Village in Nadi.

Hydro panels are an off-grid, solar powered technology which extracts water vapour from the air into a proprietary absorbent material.

The water then flows into a reservoir where it is mineralised with calcium and magnesium for health and taste benefits.

This technology successfully eliminates plastic pollution as well, with each panel
displacing up to 50,000 standard plastic bottles, and complements quite aptly the vision of the Fijian Government to minimize plastic use in our pledge to protect our environment.

Another feature of this project is that it is completely infrastructure independent and uses no electricity or existing water supply to power the Hydro panel.

Minister Vuniwaqa thanked Solved (Fiji) Private Ltd director John Magnifico.

A similar project has also been implemented at Koroipita in Lautoka.
