Let’s build a better and safer society for our mothers and women.
This was the message shared by the Minister for Women Mereseini Vuniwaqa on her official Facebook page.
She thanked mothers for all they have done for their families, communities and for Fiji, especially in these unprecedented times of uncertainty and fear.
“Giving flowers and presents to our mothers is always a good idea. However, I hope that on this Mothers’ Day, we will recommit ourselves to doing more than that,” Vuniwaqa said.
“Through deeds that match our words, let’s give our mothers the respect they deserve, give all women the equality they deserve, the security they deserve, the love they deserve and the acknowledgement they deserve,” she added.
Minister Vuniwaqa also paid special acknowledgement to the role that mothers have taken up in the nations approach to combat COVID19 and towards protecting not only their families and loved ones, but also fellow Fijians.
She expressed her gratitude to mothers who served in essential services like health care, defense, markets, telecommunication, social services, supermarkets, and the utility sectors as Fiji battled and continues to battle COVID19 and the aftermath of TC Harold.
