The Government of Japan provided funding worth more than one hundred thousand dollars for the water supply system of two communities outside Labasa yesterday.

Vuiyakana village and Kavika settlement were the recipient of this in partnership with Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Program.

The Embassy of Japan’s-First Secretary- Dr. Takaaki Nagasaka says as a basic human need, improving access to clean water has always been a priority of the Government of Japan in its efforts to assist developing countries.

He says the villagers now are benefiting not only from the regular water supply for their daily consumption, but also from improved sanitation brought about by improved access to clean water.
