The Fiji Rugby Union has today confirmed that after discussion with New Zealand Rugby Union, a Vodafone Vanua XV Team will be touring New Zealand in November of 2018.

The tour is a part of the outcome of discussions between the NZ Rugby Union and the Fiji Rugby Union as we look to strengthen our collaboration with the New Zealand Rugby Union in rugby terms.

“We are grateful and thankful to the NZ Rugby Union for accommodating this tour and for organising the matches against the Heartland XV in New Zealand”, O’Connor highlighted.  “We also thank the NZ Rugby for accommodating the tour of our Fiji U18 team through their Schools Affiliate”.

The FRU is committed to creating pathways for all our players and this is an opportunity for players playing in the FRU Vodafone Vanua Championship to compete for places in the Swire Shipping Warriors, Fiji Airways Drua, the Fiji Airways Men’s Sevens teams and ultimately the Flying Fijians.

This will be a historic tour and another achievement for FRU and we are continuing discussions with the NZRU for their representative Mitre 10 or Heartland teams to tour Fiji and play the Vodafone Vanua team every alternative year while our team tours NZ the year after.

The following players are requested to commence their training prior to fitness tests being conducted in the main centres before trials will be conducted to select the team to tour New Zealand.
