Various youth groups and residents of Waimalika Cane Field Rd in Sabeto, Nadi were reminded and encouraged to make use of the Government assistance offered to them, especially in the field of running a business.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Parveen Kumar, while officiating at the handing over ceremony of youth grants to 3 recipients who run their own small businesses, encouraged those present to be innovative and creative.

“These recipients are role models for our youth. They have taken the initiative to start their businesses on a small scale and have demonstrated a capacity and desire to build these businesses.”

Minister Kumar urged the recipients to learn about their business as it grows and to grow themselves as business people.

He also encouraged the youth to be job creators instead of job seekers.

“If you have the opportunity, there are various formal and informal means of training and education that you can explore. Do not be scared to ask and learn from those who have run successful businesses. Learn to respect and follow your own ideas and judgement when it comes to the running of your business.”
