U.S Naval vessel, USS Stockdale is in the country  for the first time and aims to strengthen its relationship with the Fijian Navy.

Commanding Officer CDR Leonard Leos said the vessels had been operating at sea for quite some time and his crew are happy of the hospitality they have received so far.

He added the short stop will also give his crew time to rest before their next engagement.

The US Navy will have activities with the Fiji Navy tomorrow which includes sharing of knowledge and skills.

The crew members as part of their community activity will also be reading to the children at Carnegie Library in Suva.

The vessels will be in the country for the next three days.
