The US Government through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided a total of USD$100,000 to the Fiji Red Cross Society to provide emergency relief items, Water Sanitation and Hygiene assistance to these communities.

The Fiji Red Cross Society would like to say a big Vinaka Vakalevu to the US Embassy for their generous donation to support the FRCS response for TC Harold affected communities.

His Excellency U.S. Ambassador Joseph Cella said their assistance to the Fiji Red Cross is something they are proud of.

“I’ve tracked what the Red Cross has done for TC Harold and the COVID-19 pandemic and I am really impressed with the great work they have been doing, not only here in Fiji but also across the globe.

Growing up I witnessed that whenever there was a disaster, the Red Cross was always first to respond and even today, the Red Cross is always there to assist. This is what I admire so much about the Red Cross”, said the Ambassador.

Fiji Red Cross Society Director General, Ms. Rokotunidau said this assistance will enable the FRCS to better reach and assist the communities that it serves.
